So near so far

SNSF is a new interactive performance work between two countries that looks at our changing relationship to air travel. Using playful, social and existential provocations, audiences are enrolled as travellers on your final travel experience. Wearing headphones you are guided on a journey in an airport waiting lounge where you meet strangers and glimpse into the world of two characters' long distance relationship, Harold and Rose.

So Near So Far has had a research stage at the Brisbane Powerhouse in 2021 and then a short creative development at QPAC in 2022.

We would love to continue to develop this work with a final development to develop the live hybrid performance for foyers (theatre and airports) and audio version for galleries and transport spaces.

THIS EXPERIENCE IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE TRAVELLED

This performance is for 16+ year olds. With a target age of 30-40 year olds.

So Near/ So Far uses interactive mobile and live streaming technology. The work is between 2 countries at a time. We are currently working with artists in Queensland and New Mexico. The possibilities are endless.

SUITABLE VENUES

It is very flexible; it suits venues (in the foyer ) as well as festival environments (at an airport). We will need a lounge space as well as a check in space. Audience will walk from the check in space to the lounge so there needs to be room between the two spaces for walking.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

Known critical technical requirements are 3 x 50inch or larger TV screen and AV equipment. Seating for 20 people.

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT

Place is very important to the work of SNSF. It will be important for the core team (writer, director, performer) to spend a day in the community getting a feel for the area ( this may just be one team member and the other two online depending on location). Ideally there is an opportunity for an emerging writer/performance maker to work with the team to update the script based on the location. This content is then added into the show.

Workshops in writing, physical theatre and contemporary performance making techniques can also be offered for an addition fee and determined in collaboration with the presenter.
